Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi, has confirmed that a few of his fellow Senators have received a recess allowance of N2 million. During the closing of the plenary session on Monday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio had informed the Senators that a modest sum had been transferred to their individual accounts for the holiday period.

Ningi, however, criticized Akpabio for his manner of announcement. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today, Ningi stated, "I haven't seen any funds in my account yet. I've heard that certain individuals received N2 million, but as for me, I've yet to receive anything. Hopefully, I'll receive it once they conclude their procedures."

He went on to express his belief that such matters should not be publicly disclosed as Akpabio did. "This type of situation shouldn't be publicized the way he did," Ningi remarked. "It's a significant embarrassment for the Senate President personally and for the National Assembly as an institution. The Senate President should have gone into greater detail about the purpose of the allowances. How were these allowances determined? Who authorized them? Are they part of our compensation?"

He added, "I'm uncertain about what purpose N2 million serves for a holiday. It's challenging for me to comprehend the rationale behind this funding."
