Actor Olanrewaju James, widely known as Baba Ijesha, has completed one year of his 16-year prison sentence for child defilement at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos State. The verdict was delivered on July 14, 2022, where he was found guilty on four of the six-count charge related to indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

The case garnered significant attention and stirred controversies within the entertainment industry, with some celebrities supporting comedian Princess Adekoya, whose ward was the victim, while others empathized with Baba Ijesha. Yomi Fabiyi, Bukky Black, and Lege Miami were among those who sympathized with Baba Ijesha, with Fabiyi maintaining that the actor was unfairly ensnared in the situation.

Actresses Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing, on the other hand, stood firmly in support of Princess. Fabiyi, who has been in touch with Baba Ijesha since his imprisonment, expressed his concern for the actor's mental well-being and is actively attempting to uplift his spirits and prevent negative thoughts.

Throughout the trial, Baba Ijesha appeared visibly despondent, and on one occasion, he was seen clutching a Christian book titled, 'How to Thrive in Perilous Times: Living Beyond the World System,' written by Happy Caldwell.
