I would have won against Tinubu, if we were given equal ground during the primaries

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State emphasized that  he would had defeated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  if the Election was on equal ground , to regain the presidency in 2023, 

it’s the party should had  adhere to the principles of fair play. But because they were  against me, there started excluding individuals from the electoral process or manipulating it in favor of specific groups, warning that such actions would be detrimental to the party.

Following a private meeting with Ex- President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja, Governor Bello, who was an APC presidential aspirant, alleged a conspiracy by northern governors and certain elites to eliminate him from the competition.

When asked about the party's prospects of winning the presidency in 2023, Governor Bello expressed optimism, stating that if the APC follows the rules of the game, it will regain power.

Elaborating on playing by the rules of the game, he stressed the importance of abiding by the law, ensuring the inclusion of all interested participants, and upholding principles of fairness, equity, and justice.

Governor Bello reiterated his opposition to the concept of rotational presidency, arguing that it hinders the emergence of competent leaders capable of effectively governing the country.

Regarding his meeting with the former President Muhammadu Buhari, the governor explained that it was held in the context of the APC's special national convention, where the party's presidential candidate would be chosen. He clarified that he visited the President to provide an accurate account of the recent controversies and misconceptions, particularly surrounding a viral video depicting him leaving a meeting in frustration.


Governor Bello voiced his opposition to the suppression of the people's voice, representing the views of over 26 million Nigerians, including women and individuals with special needs. He expressed his refusal to participate in a meeting where such manipulations occurred, thus explaining his decision to leave.
